Not about switching off your mind!

Firstly, I have to say... 

 

Meditation is NOT about switching off your mind or having nothing in your mind! 

 

Have you tried meditation previously and thought that the outcome was meant to be the above? Did you feel like you had failed? 

I'm guessing the answer is yes! 

 

If you are meditating with this as the goal, you will always feel like you have failed because this is an impossible task - literally impossible! Humans brains are not able to 'switch off. 

 

The purpose of mediation is to calm your brain and actually allow you to focus better.

Meditation has many different proven scientific benefits, such as, reduces stress, helps control anxiety, promotes emotional health, enhances self-awareness, lengthens attention span, promotes and protects brain health, generates kindness... to name a few. 

Although, for me meditation is more than that. It's a way for me to connect with myself, to give myself a moment where I'm not focused on work, or my to do list, or any of the other 'jobs' we have in our day to day life. It's just me and my moment. 

The other thing I love about meditation is the chance to connect with likeminded people to share experiences with. 

Lastly, let me remind you that meditation is a practice. It's not something that just happens overnight. It's something you get better and stronger at the more you participate and show up and that where my meditation groups are great for holding you accountable for showing up for yourself.

My sessions are for everyone no matter if you have tried meditation before or it's never even crossed your mind.
